Christian School has provided consistently high quality child-care and early
learn
ing experiences. The school provides childcare and education for children
aged 3-5 years inclusive. Before and after school and summer child-care is also
available for elementary students, grades K-4.
Who Operates Zwingli Christian School?
Zwingli is a non-profit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical school. It is operated under the auspices of Zwingli United Church of Christ. A school board consisting of 10 members who represent the church, the parents, and the community supervise the school and set school policy. It is supported by Zwingli UCC, school tuition, and several fund raisers per year.
All classes are inspected annually and licensed by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW). We also participate in Keystone Stars at a STARS 2 level. Keystone Stars is a system of continuous quality improvement for child-care through Standards, Training, Assistance, Resources, & Supports. It recognizes child-care providers who exceed state health and safety licensing requirements.
Nursery School
Three Year Olds: This class emphasizes social interaction, sharing, and developing friendships. We introduce the concepts of name recognition, colors, shapes, and beginning counting through game and play activities. Classes meet M/W/F or T/TH from 9-11:30am.
Four Year Olds: With a curriculum built around the letters of the alphabet, art activities, stories, and games are used to introduce letter recognition. Concepts such as colors, shapes, seasons, and holidays are also emphasized. Children have an opportunity to explore their world, build friendships, gain independence, and improve self-help skills. Classes meet M/W/F or T/TH from 9-11:30am or T/TH from 12:45-3:15pm.
Transition: This class is designed especially for the older 4 and younger 5 year old who have late birthdays and miss the kindergarten cut off date or for those who may need an extra year before entering kindergarten. The emphasis is on improving cognitive skills including letter and number recognition and reading readiness. Children have ample opportunity for improving gross and fine motor skills. Classes meet M/W/F from 12:45-3:15pm.
Day Care
Preschool: Zwingli’s Day Care operates year round from 6 am - 5:45 pm, Monday through Friday. Both full time and part-time care is available to accommodate the varied needs of working families. A combination of child directed and teacher planned activities, both indoor and outside, makes each day fun and interesting. Children are encouraged to explore their world and experience hands-on learning in the most developmentally appropriate way possible. This well-rounded program offers activities that promote physical cognitive, social, and self-help skills. Christian education is an integral part of our curriculum and includes prayer, bible stories and songs, and weekly inspirational times. Healthy snacks are provided each morning and afternoon.
School-Aged: Zwingli is located in the Bermudian Springs School District. We provide child-care before and after school for Bermudian Springs elementary students with bus pick-up and drop-off right at our door. Grades K-4 engage in a variety of daily activities including: snack, sports, group games, arts and crafts, and homework time. Students are supervised by a well-trained adult staff that promotes self-awareness, positive self-esteem, tolerance and acceptance, cooperation and fair play. This program operates from 6am until bus pick-up and from afternoon bus drop-off until 5:45pm. School-aged care is extended to provide full-day care on school holidays, snow days, and summer vacations.
